Hello.  My name is Jay.  I am about eighteen months old and I weigh almost 16 pounds.  I am a chihuahua/dachshund mix.  I was found abandoned on a dead end street with my sister and two brothers.  We were so scared especially when the coyotes came out at night. A nice lady called the rescue and they came out and got us.  They looked for our family but no one claimed us so now I am looking for a new home.

I can get scared in new situations.  It's not that I don't want to love you it's just that I am not sure I can trust you.  Please don't leave me and just have patience, I will love you. I think it would be best to have older children, they would be quieter.

I like other dogs and love to run and play in the fenced yard.  Actually a fenced yard is a must for now for my safety and security.  If you have another dog for me to play with that would be nice too.

Learning is easy for me so teach away. I am house and crate trained already.

I have a very soft coat, shorter legs and a good round body.  So my ears and face are more a chihuahua and my body is more like a dachshund except I don't have huge feet.

I have been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and am current on heartworm/flea and tick preventatives.  My adoption fee is 175.00.  The first step in adopting me, Jay, is to fill out the adoption application at dogsasfamily.org.  I wonder what you look like?
