Hello.  My name is Dixie.  I am an year old German Shepherd that currently weigh 56 pounds.  I came to the rescue after my mom decided she couldn't give me the life I deserved and wanted the rescue to help find me a new home.  I am ready, are you?

I like people, I really do however, I will be cautious when we first meet.  I have lived in an apartment my whole life so I would really enjoy a home with a fenced yard to run and play in sometimes.  Speaking of playing, that is so fun!  Toys are just awesome.  I spent the first half of my life with my brother and other dogs may be ok.  I have never met a cat.  I know a few manners but to tell you the truth we will have to work on them so no home with children.  I am just so happy that sometimes I don't listen as well as I should.  I do have a big deep bark and won't hesitate to warn you if I hear something.  If it's ok with you I could use a few extra pounds on me so expect me to gain weight.

I have been spay, vaccinated, microchipped.  I tested negative for heartworms and am current on preventative.  My adoption fee is $250.00.  The first step in adopting me is to complete for an application for Dixie at dogsasfamily.org.  I stand ready, willing and able to be your best friend.
